20% of gays vote for Bush

www.advocate.com/new_news.asp

"The president received between 21% and 23% of the GLBT vote, about same percentage he received in the 2000 election, according to data from CNN and The Washington Post. Challenger John Kerry received a slightly higher percentage of votes from gay Americans than Gore did four years ago, according to the numbers--77% versus the 70% that were cast for Gore in 2000. As in the previous race, about 4% of voters identified as GLBT. Kerry picked up more votes from those who voted for independent Ralph Nader in 2000."

I was not suprised. 20% is what I expected.

I have for the last decade been working on what I call the One in Five Rule.

20% of any given population "get it." Wether it be about racism, class, the enviroment ect One in Five "Get It". They see with right away how the issue effects them and others. Wether those Others are part of there community or not.

20% of any given population "Don't Get It".

The rest of the 60% are the folks for whom leadership matters.

My issue for the last two years has been not "How are we going to win when so many of us vote againts there self interest?"

My question has been;
"Why is the Queer Left Leadership so uninspiring?"

LAst week on election Day I started a series on my radio show about that question.

How about ya'll? Why is the Left in general and the Queer Left Specificly so uninspiring to me?

Generation Q can be heard Tuesday from 4:PM till 6:PM on www.nj.com/wrsu
